God’s Offspring

24 May 2017

Opening Prayer/Worship

Hymn: O God Our Help in Ages Past

Theme: King of kings

Topic: God’s Offspring

Reading: Acts 17:22-31

Introduction
Through our faith in Christ we become Gods children, filled with the Holy Spirit.  To be Gods offspring is to know, love and live for the Lord.  This description is mainly from our perspective, because from Gods point of view, all humanity belongs to Him.  So when we speak of being Gods offspring, we mainly refer to being in relationship and partnership with Him.  That we do not acknowledge Gods ownership of our lives does not make us not be the Lords own, instead such attitude prevents us from living in the fullness of Gods love, provision and protection, in this life and in the life to come.  Christ came to reconcile us to God, and it is important to our wellbeing that we accept such great salvation and live in the fullness of Gods plan and purpose for our lives.

Questions/Discussion

Psalm 66:7-18
2 Corinthians 5:11-21

2) What are the lessons for us in John 14:15-21 regarding being Gods offspring?
John 14:15-21

3) What are some of the challenges to living as Gods offspring?  How do we overcome them?
Psalm 95:1-11
Romans 7:1-6
1 Peter 3:13-22

Conclusion
Christ came to reconcile us to God, and it is important to our wellbeing that we accept such great salvation and live in the fullness of Gods plan and purpose for our lives

Closing Prayer (Collect for Sixth Sunday of Easter)

Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you riches beyond imagination. Pour into our hearts such love toward you, that we, loving you above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
