Opening Prayer/Worship
Hymn:
Immortal, invisible, God only wise
Theme: Spirit Divine
Topic:
Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation
Reading: Daniel
7:1-3, 15-18
Introduction
Insight is a word that
could be easily used to describe today’s topic. Our decisions should be based, as much as
possible, on God’s plans and purpose as well as an understanding and awareness of the consequences. That we are Christians does not mean that we
can think or act in a mindless fashion.
On the contrary, our thoughts and actions should be based on the word of
God, through Scripture, hymns and other such
spiritual resources. We should ensure
that our desires are in line with the Spirit of
Christ that dwells within us. Although
this does not come naturally to us, the longer we
walk with God, and trust and obey Him, the easier it
will be for us to receive guidance and insight from the Holy Spirit.
Questions/Discussion
1.
Why do we need divine wisdom, understanding and revelation?
1 Samuel 30:3-8; Psalm 119:1-21; James 4:13-17.
2.
What are the lessons for us in Luke 6:20-31 regarding the God of abundance? What should be our attitude towards His
mercies? Luke 6:20-31.
3.
How do we receive divine wisdom, understanding and revelation? Discuss some of the challenges to having
insight and how to overcome them.
Psalm 119:92-106; Psalm 149:1-9; Hebrews
3:7-19.
Intercession/Worship
Conclusion
The longer we walk with
God, and trust and obey Him, the easier it will be for us to receive guidance and insight from the Holy Spirit.
Closing Prayer (Collect for All Saints’ Day)
Almighty
God, whose people are knit together in one holy Church, the mystical Body of
your Son, grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in lives of faith and
commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who
love you; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
